Case Study: Re-Zoning an Open-Plan Living Space with a Zonal Fireplace
One of our recent installations shows how zoning a room with a fireplace can modernise and make all the difference to a space.
The living room in question had been extended by the previous owners, who built a false internal chimney breast to bring the fireplace into the centre of the space. But when our customer moved in, they had a new vision: a dining zone at one end, and a cosy living zone at the other.
When Kieran visited the home, he recommended reinstating the fireplace in its original position – slightly off-centre, but perfectly placed within the new lounge area. To achieve this:
- We removed the false chimney breast
- Created a new chamber in the original external chimney
- Fitted a new gas stove, granite hearth and oak-effect beam
- Lined the chimney and prepared the space ready for finishing touches
The result? More usable floor space, better flow between zones, and a beautiful, functioning fireplace that’s now the heart of the home. It’s the perfect example of zones in action and we can’t wait to share the final decorated photos.
