Gas Fires & Installation

Why choose a Gas Fire?

If you are looking for efficiency and convenience Gas Fires make a perfect choice.

Using gas as the source (that most homes already have access to) Gas Fires can heat a room relatively cost-effectively as they produce a significant amount of heat.

You have the added benefit of being able to control the output at a click of a button and is obviously much easier to switch on and off and maintain compared to our Wood Burning and Multi-Fuel Stoves.

Maria and Kieron were brilliant throughout the process of purchasing my Gas Fireplace. The turnaround from order to installation was great and the team that installed were pleasant clean and efficient. Very happy with the service that was provided and the price was within my budget which was perfect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gas Fires

1. How do gas fires work?
Gas fires work by burning natural gas (or propane to produce a controlled flame and heat. They typically have a burner, logs or other decorative elements to create a realistic-looking flame.

Not all the time, no. You can indeed use a “Flueless” gas fire, but these are not widely used as they are not as warm as gas fires that do use a flue, and the room also has to be a of a certain size (around 40m cubed) to accommodate a flueless gas fire. There isn’t a wide range of these types of fires available so design choices are limited.

We would suggest, if there is no “chimney” in your house – it may be possible to install a balanced flue gas fire – this is where a flue goes from the fire, directly to an outside air source. Balanced flue gas fires are ideal where the gas fire is to be positioned on an external wall, or in a single storey extension where the flue can go directly through the ceiling. The other option should you have no chimney, is to build a chimney system. Obviously this is more complicated than it sounds, so if you are ever in doubt, drop us a line and we can talk you through it!

Very rarely to be honest. It’s more complicated than you might think but we can discuss this with you.

Yes, they are generally energy-efficient because they convert a high percentage of the gas energy into heat which means wastage is kept to a minimum. Some models even come with energy-saving features such as thermostats and timers.
Simples! You can typically control the flame and heat output of a gas fire using a remote control, wall switch, or a knob on the unit itself. This allows you to adjust the intensity of the flame and the amount of heat generated.
Gas fires do require regular maintenance and we can explain this to you at our consultations and again at the installations. It’s also advisable to have an annual inspection by a qualified technician to ensure safe and efficient operation which, again, we can help with so it’s one less thing on your mind.
Oh yes, and we’d love to show you at our showroom. There are a wide variety of gas fire styles and designs available to suit every preference. You can choose from traditional, contemporary, and modern designs with various finishes, log arrangements, and decorative options.
Gas fires come with safety features such as oxygen depletion sensors (ODS) that shut off the gas if oxygen levels in the room drop to unsafe levels. As with anything, it is crucial to follow the safety guidelines and we do recommend installing carbon monoxide detectors if you have any gas appliances.
