How To Choose The Right Fire For Your Home

Guide Now!

Can I have a log burner with no chimney?

Absolutely! You can still have a log burner with no chimney.

Not having a chimney doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have a log burner. There are alternative ways for us to install a log burner with no chimney in your property.

One of the popular solutions is a twin wall flue system. It involves installing a specialist flue pipe that acts as a chimney substitute, guiding the smoke and gases outside. These twin wall flue systems (a pipe within a pipe, with added insulation) can be directed through an external wall or vertically through the roof. They are specifically designed for wood burners and multifuel stoves and well insulated, efficient and safe, with minimum distance to combustibles permitted.

Another option is a real chimney system – we always recommend an Isokern system by Scheidel. This chimney system is designed to be quick and easy to install. The lightweight blocks are easy to handle. The outer and inner blocks are laid at the same time but with staggered joints for safety and stability. The double layer of pumice separated by an air gap maximises the chimney insulation. The Pumice chimney systems are suitable for wood logs, solid fuel, oil and gas and can be rendered or encased with brick after installation.

As you can imagine, these options aren’t always straightforward! That’s why you need to choose a reputable, experienced fire company (hello!) to advise you and carry out the installation.

Our expert engineers will assess your home’s layout, structural considerations, and local regulations to ensure a safe and compliant installation.

So yes, you can absolutely have a log burner with no chimney but it is complicated and you must be confident in your installer’s ability and experience. Rest assured, with over 40 years of being in this business, we definitely have both!
