Wood burner stoves work by burning wood as fuel. The firewood is put into the stove’s firebox and lit. The combustion process generates heat which warms the room/house.

2. What types of wood are suitable for burning in a wood burner stove?

Dry, seasoned hardwoods like oak, ash, maple, and cherry are generally the best choices.

3. Are there any woods you shouldn’t use?

Green or freshly cut wood are not recommended as it can produce more smoke and creosote buildup in the chimney.

4. Do wood burner stoves require a chimney?

Yes, wood burner stoves require proper ventilation through a chimney or twin-wall flue system to work safely. Please contact us for more information.

5. Are wood burner stoves environmentally friendly?

Yes, when they are used correctly. ECO DESIGN READY wood burning stoves are designed to burn wood more cleanly which reduces emissions and air pollution.

6. Do I need to maintain a wood burner stove?

Yes, they do need to be looked after with regular cleaning and inspecting. The chimney or flue will also need cleaning but we can help with that too.

7. Can you use a wood burner stoves to cook?

Some, you can but not all. We would advise you on this.

8. Do wood burner stoves require electricity?

No, they don’t.

9. Can I install a wood burner stove in an existing fireplace?

Yes, you can but we would need to conduct a home visit to advise you.

10. Are there regulations or permits required for installing a wood burner stove?

Yes, there could be depending on your home, area etc. Again, this is something we can advise on.

11. Do I have to get my chimney cleaned?

Regular chimney cleaning is essential otherwise it can be a fire hazard. As part of our aftercare, we offer chimney cleaning you keep you all safe!

12. Can wood burner stoves be used as a primary heating source?
